The Canadiens made a splash prior to Wednesday's trade deadline, acquiring left wing Thomas Vanek from the Islanders, according to an ESPN.com report.
The Islanders, who landed Vanek earlier this season in a trade with the Sabres, received a conditional second-round draft pick in 2014 and prospect Sebastian Collberg from the Canadiens, who also got a conditional fifth-round pick.
The Rangers have acquired six-time All-Star Martin St. Louis from the Lightning for captain Ryan Callahan and two draft picks, according to an ESPN.com report.
The Rangers sent a first-round pick in 2015 and a second-round pick in 2014 to Tampa Bay in the deal, which was completed in the final hours before Wednesday's trade deadline.

After nearly eight years apart, Roberto Luongo was the centerpiece of a four-player trade between Florida and the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday. The Panthers sent goalie Jacob Markstrom and forward Shawn Matthias to the Canucks for Luongo and forward Steven Anthony.
"Stunned. I was not expecting it," Luongo told TSN Radio. "I'm happy for myself and my family but a little sad to be leaving Vancouver."
